The point of this project was to design a model train off of specific dimensions given to us in the packet 8.1
Generate Concept
The first thing I did was develop the train body by using the methods in inventor and the given dimensions.
Develop a solution
construct an d test prototype
Evaluate the solution
The response to my project was that it looked very sleek and uniform with realistic tones, shades and textures.
Present SOlution
I have faced many challenges while created the model train. The main problem I faced was trying to make all of the dimensions right for all the individual parts and putting them together. Another problem I came across was fixing the errors created from constrictions and any interference in the assembly. There were many key components in making this project come together. One of the parts that is often overlooked is the section view. The section view shows the cross section of a part as if it was cut in half. Many parts use a section view, but the view that used it the most would be the wheel. Another view used to depict parts is the auxiliary view. The auxiliary view is an orthographic projection that shows details of a part or object that would otherwise be unseen or unnoticed. The auxiliary view was used to help show the details of the cow catcher. One more type of view is the broken view. This view is used to show a large or long object in a smaller space. This is shown by using break lines which "cut" away at material to allow the entire object or part to be shown. This view was used to help depict the linkage arm. Symbols are used to describe holes instead of words because it tells all needed information without taking up space that could be used for other information. Tolerances are needed for the construction of the parts so that the pieces could be manufactured and used for their intended purpose and to help with the assembly of the product as a whole.
